APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS

IMPORTANT DATES

Application available: NOVEMBER 1, 2012

Deadline for international applicants: FEBRUARY 1, 2013

Deadline for Canadian and USA applicants: MARCH 1, 2013

APPLICATION PROCESS

1. Complete and submit the online application form.
2. Referees will automatically be sent a secure link to the online UBC reference form. Referees without professional email addresses must mail a paper reference form and/or letter in a sealed and endorsed envelope to the Medical Genetics Graduate Program office (see Contact).

3. Submit two official copies for each post-secondary school attended in sealed and endorsed envelopes to the Medical Genetics Graduate Program office. International applicants must submit two official copies of all original language transcripts and original language degree certificates (if applicable) in addition to two copies of certified English translations of these documents.

ADMISSION PROCESS

1. Completed applications are reviewed by the Medical Genetics Graduate Program Admissions Committee. Applicants will be advised of the Admission Committee’s decision by email.
2. Admissible applicants must secure the commitment of a research supervisor in the Department of Medical Genetics who agrees to provide supervision and financial support.
3. Admissible applicants will be recommended for admission to the Faculty of Graduate Studies. Following the Faculty’s review, the admissible applicant will be issued an official acceptance letter. International students must present this acceptance letter when applying for a study permit.
